About the Claremont Immersion School PTA

The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a grass roots organization that brings parents and teachers together so they can work towards improving the lives and education of students. It is believed that strong partnerships between home and school create great benefits for students, parents, teachers and administrators. Being involved in your child's school experience is a rewarding one for all. Joining the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is simple. To encourage participation, we've provided a list of frequently asked questions that you may have.

How do I join the PTA?

It's easy. Dues of $5.00 per person automatically enroll your family in the local, state and national PTA. Provide your information on the front of the enclosed envelope and insert a check or cash for the total dues. On the same envelope, you can indicate an additional donation in the space provided and include your donation in your check or in additional cash. These donations go directly to benefit the PTA's support of Claremont students and teachers. Return the envelope to your child's homeroom teacher.

When is the first PTA meeting?

Generally, PTA meetings are held in the school library on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 pm. In September, however, the meeting will be on September 15th. All PTA meetings are listed in the Claremont School Calendar and on the Claremont PTA website (Claremont-pta.org). Child care is provided. Spanish translation will be available.

I want to help out more this year - how can I volunteer?

There are a couple of ways to sign up: 1) fill out the attached form, or 2) sign up at various events. The volunteer form provides details on standing committees, including committee chairs, and allows you to indicate interest in a committee(s). This information is also available on the Claremont PTA Website under the volunteer section. If you do not have access to the internet or email, sign-up sheets will be at the PTA meeting on September 15th and at Back to School Night on September 23rd. In addition, throughout the year, volunteers will be needed for specific events. You can also always contact a member of the PTA board or a committee chair to volunteer.

How do I get on the list serv?

There are two list servs available to Claremont parents. The Claremont PTA list serv is generally used by the PTA to communicate information (e.g., weekly schedules, upcoming events, Sally Foster deadlines, etc.) to PTA members and the school community. Parrots Prattle is for general non-PTA related business (e.g., announcing child care needs, or recommending a local contractor, etc.). To subscribe, send an email to the following addresses:

Is there a PTA Website?

The website address is claremont-pta.org. There are no passwords, and it is easy to navigate. We will post PTA meeting agendas, PTA meeting minutes, the school calendar, the budget including year to date expenses, and the school directory and more on the website.

Does the PTA have a budget?
Yes, and we have attached it for you to review. The PTA budget will be voted on at the September 15th PTA meeting. As you can see, we have much planned this year requiring money and volunteers to make it an exciting and memorable year for your child!

Bienvenidos a la escuela claremont

El PTA (Parent Teacher Association-Asociación de Padres y Maestros) es una organización comunitaria que agrupa a los padres y a los maestros paara trabajar por la mejora de las condiciones de vida y la educación de los estudiantes. El trabajo en equipo entre el hogar y la escuela genera grandes beneficios para los estudiantes, los padres y los administradores. Es muy fácil hacerse miembro del PTA. Para incentivar su participación incluímos aquí una lista de las preguntas más frecuentes acerca del PTA, con las respuestas correspondientes.

¿Cómo me hago miembro del PTA?

Es muy fácil: Escriba sus datos personales en el sobre que le hemos enviado, e incluya un cheque o efectivo por el valor de la cuota de membresía, que es de $5 por persona. Esta cuota los hace, automáticamente, miembros del PTA local, el PTA estatal y el PTA nacional. En el mismo sobre, marque el espacio indicado para donaciones adicionales e incluya su contribución en cheque o efectivo. Estas donaciones son para beneficio directo del PTA de Claremont. Por favor, entréguele el sobre al profesor principal de su hijo/a.

¿Cuándo es la primera reunión del PTA?

En general, las reuniones tienen lugar el primer martes de cada mes, a las 7 pm, en la biblioteca de la Escuela. En septiembre sin embargo, la reunión tendrá lugar el 15 de septiembre. Todas las reuniones del PTA están indicadas en el Calendario de la Escuela y en todas las reuniones hay servicio de guardería. También habrá traducción simultánea al español.

Este año quiero ayudar más - ¿cómo puedo ser voluntario?

Hay dos maneras de ofrecerse como voluntario: 1- llene el formulario adjunto, 2- inscríbase durante los diferentes eventos del PTA. Adjunto a esta carta encontrará usted un formulario con detalles acerca de los diferentes comités de nuestro PTA y un espacio donde puede indicar en cuáles de estos le interesaría participar. Esta información también estará en la página WEB del PTA. Si no tiene acceso a correo electrónico o internet, puede escribir su nombre en las hojas de inscripción que tendremos en nuestra primera reunión, el 15 de septiembre, y en la Noche de Regreso a la Escuela (Back to School Night) el 23 de septiembre. Adicionalmente, necesitaremos voluntarios para eventos específicos a través del año. También puede ponerse en contacto con cualquier miembro directivo del PTA o con el coordinador de algún comité del PTA para ofrecerse como voluntario.

¿Cómo me inscribo en la lista electrónica?

Tenemos dos listas electrónicas para los padres de Claremont: Parrots Prattle, que es para asuntos no relacionados con el PTA (como solicitar un servicio de niñera, o anunciar eventos importantes para la comunidad), y la lista del PTA, que es para comunicar información directamente a los miembros del PTA (como publicación de los calendarios de cada semana, anunciar eventos del PTA y sus fechas límite, etc.).
